You are what you eat.........

Everything you eat or drink is affecting your life. It is the same food that later on is converted to various forms in your body.
Have you ever felt great after a simple fresh lime in plain water in summers? Or a cup of coffee in cold freezing day? This is what the food has in it. While this is the just the immediate response of the body toward the food you have consumed but the long time consequences of food are your health.
There is a strong desire for having particular kind of food. This desire is the result of kind of up-bringing one has gone through, kind of environment one is living or is accommodating, kind of social circle and peer pressure.

When we talk of food then we happen to see lots of variety world wide. There are so many varieties even more than type of the food products available. Preparation of food is highly region based. And this is because of the particular climatic condition and particular place. Within India there is so much variation in the kind of preparation and type of food available.

But due to globalization the world has shrunk. It's no more, that for tasting particular food you will have to go to particular place or country. Everything is available everywhere. Even due to the cold storage and other techniques there is no term left as seasonal food, all type of food is available in all seasons. For food-lovers this is good that they can have their favorite food available all the time. To some extent, it might be good but one should not forget that food works like the fuel of body. And body requirements changes according to the environment. In particular type of weather body need particular kind of food only. With this kind of culture we have invited many diseases.
Not only this, the culture of junk and fast food has almost taken the health out of us.
The restaurant culture has taken away the habit of cooking food at home. Now people avoid cooking at homes and prefer eating outside. And this kind of habit is inculcated in kids right from the childhood. Gone are the days when mothers and grandmothers used to cook particular seasonal recipe for whole families. Children now may not avail these kind of healthy food as there parents are too busy in their lives ruining their as well their kids health.

However we cannot avoid this kind of junk food altogether but we can limit it. But even when we talk about healthy food, now where the healthy food is available? The fertilizers, the golden stick of green revolution, first ruined lands, then farmers and now is ruining everything available on earth to eat and hence is ruining our healths. Fruits are ripened before their time, they are more sweet than naturally they might have been, thanks to all new world chemicals and drugs.

So what are the ways to get rid of all this? Sometimes I think that best were the days when people had lands of their own where the cultivated for their family and lived happy and healthy life. But with the changing world scenario and changing needs it is so ridiculous to think this way. We belong to this world and our solutions should be of this world only.

Well with this blog I will slowly keep on finding the solutions for myself and my readers. For now, I will only say..................You are what you eat.........so eat wisely..........your body can judge what it needs when it needs...........Listen to it..........................
